FERNANDO GAVIRIA

Fernando Gaviria was born in San Cristobal, Venezuela in the state of Tachira. At the age of 10 his family relocated to the second largest city of Maracaibo which led him to master distinct dialects and discover his love for performance. He built a career in fitness while continuing his studies, gaining him 2 championship titles of Mr. Fitness in his region. Equipped with only ambition and determination he relocated to Miami, Florida where he began his modeling career. Landing national print campaigns for Sprint, Toyota, and Bank of America and over 60 commercials, Fernando earned the opportunity to work with Ricky Martin & Director Brian Singer on commercials running in the US, Spain, Mexico, Argentina & Chile.
Fernando began his hosting career and landed "Carros de Lujo" while producing his own show "Fitness Mania" which lasted a season. He then went on to become one of the cast members of Univision’s first sitcom "Estamos Unidos". In 2003, while auditioning for Bad Boys II Fernando met with Michael Bay after a taped submission and was offered his first speaking role in a major motion picture. After been in more the 60 national commercials and some Spanish Soaps .This inspired his cross country relocation to Hollywood where he has worked in several film festival worthy projects including the award winning short "Who Killed Cuco Gomez", (LALIFF 2005 Winner Best short )which is now in preproduction for a feature.
Continuing on with his commercial good luck he has a national Revlon commercial with Jessica Alba while he shoots Charles Alleyne’s "Bullets, Lies,and Death" his first lead role in a feature film. After more than 10 years working as an actor, Fernando started in his first script, INKED that has given him many satisfactions, such as qualifying to UCLA writer’s summer workshop 2008 where more than 100 writers around the nation and internationally applied and only 8 qualified.
Afterwards he applied to NALIP Writer’s Lab 2009 and his script was accepted.
With INKED he was accepted in the SUNDANCE WRITERS LAB 2012 where 4000 scripts applied and just 30 past to the semi-final and INKED was one of them.
Fernando is currently working on the screenplay adaptation about the story of Maikel Marquez ,called “18 countries”, which is based on how this Cuban Immigrant travels to more than 17 countries for over 2 years across, South America until finds his freedom.
Currently , he just wrapped the production where he did his debut as Director for the web-series, “call back “, a comedy.
